David Freeland, AZ Association of Accounting
and Tax Professionals
David is a third generation native of Arizona. He grew up in Phoenix and attended Maryvale High School and Phoenix College. While in high school, he worked for his father’s construction company and a concrete laborer. After high school he joined the AZ Army National Guard, in 1973 and was given the opportunity to attend Officer Candidate School at ft.
Benning Georgia in 1975 where he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant with the Combat Engineers. David spent 19 years on active duty and retired out of the Army in 1994 with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. David went back to his construction roots and worked as a superintendent for various construction companies until 2008, when the great recession occurred.
David then went to work in his wife’s CPA office and in 2009 became first the Executive Secretary and then the Executive Director for the Arizona Society of Practicing Accountants now doing business as AZ Association of Accounting and Tax Professionals.
Along with his wife Christine, they have 4 children, 1 son in law, 1 daughter in law and 3 grandchildren.
